Accountant - fixed assets (Virginia Beach, VA)

Bluepeak Rook Housing is a nonprofit housing provider in Virginia Beach, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. Collaboration with local agencies is constant. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to repair requests, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around maintenance stores against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with repair requests. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Virginia Beach. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
