Accountant - fixed assets (Toledo, OH)

Bright West Transit Planning Group is a transit-planning firm in Toledo working with agencies and riders. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with fare systems. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Toledo. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
