Accountant - fixed assets (Tampa, FL)

Harborlight Bright Water Authority operates treatment plants and pipelines around Tampa. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. Crews and office staff work closely together. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with meter reading. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Tampa. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
