Accountant - fixed assets (St. Louis, MO)

Highbridge Pike Construction is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for permits, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 197 people based in St. Louis. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around materials orders against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to permits, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with permits. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in St. Louis, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
