Accountant - fixed assets (San Jose, CA)

Harborlight Nest Markets Group operates grocery and general-merchandise stores around San Jose. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. Managers started on the floor. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around pricing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with promotions. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
