Accountant - fixed assets (San Jose, CA)

We are growing our team at Nova Granite Construction and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 71 people based in San Jose. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to subcontractor invoices, and clear open items. • Track costs around safety records against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with subcontractor invoices. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in San Jose. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
