Accountant - fixed assets (San Diego, CA)

Highbridge Fern Arts Center is a cultural organisation in San Diego presenting exhibitions and performances. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 392 people based in San Diego. What you will do • Track costs around exhibitions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school partnerships, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with school partnerships. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in San Diego. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
