Accountant - fixed assets (Richmond, VA)

We are growing our team at Bright Forge Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 770 people based in Richmond. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer tracking, and clear open items. • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Richmond. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
