Accountant - fixed assets (Richmond, VA)

Amberfield Mill Arts Center runs a venue and education programmes in Richmond, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 322 people based in Richmond. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to exhibitions, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around school partnerships against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with exhibitions. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Richmond. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
