Accountant - fixed assets (Richmond, VA)

Northwind Fern Arts Center is a cultural organisation in Richmond presenting exhibitions and performances, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 219 people based in Richmond. What you will do • Track costs around school partnerships against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to visitor services, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Richmond. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
