Accountant - fixed assets (Richmond, VA)

We are growing our team at Fernwood Thistle Auto Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. Customers come back because we explain what they need and what they do not. What you will do • Track costs around service appointments against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to parts orders, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with parts orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Richmond. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
