Accountant - fixed assets (Reno, NV)

Cedar Junction Water Authority Group operates treatment plants and pipelines around Reno, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 497 people based in Reno. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Reno. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
