Accountant - fixed assets (Reno, NV)

Westbrook Lantern Insurance is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for underwriting files, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around premium billing against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with underwriting files. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Reno, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
