Accountant - fixed assets (Reno, NV)

We are growing our team at Summit Meridian Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. On-time is the promise and we work hard to keep it. What you will do • Track costs around carrier rates against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to claims, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with claims. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Reno, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
