Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Foxglove Sable Housing manages affordable housing communities across Milwaukee, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 94 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around lease compliance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to rent assistance, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with rent assistance. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Milwaukee. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
