Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Westbrook Group sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Portland, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 7 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer complaints, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around underwriting files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with customer complaints. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Portland. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
