Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Rivermark Lantern Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Chicago. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with underwriting files. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Chicago. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
