Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Fernwood Bright Markets serves neighbourhoods around Austin with fresh food and everyday goods. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to supplier deliveries, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with supplier deliveries. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with an occasional day on site in Austin. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
