Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Rivermark Pine Water Authority operates treatment plants and pipelines around Hartford. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 619 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with meter reading. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Hartford. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
