Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Amberfield Maple Water Authority Group supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Virginia Beach and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Track costs around capital projects against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with treatment plant data. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Virginia Beach. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
