Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Harborlight West Arts Center is a cultural organisation in Chicago presenting exhibitions and performances. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. Everyone pitches in on show days. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around event logistics against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer programmes, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with volunteer programmes. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in Chicago. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
