Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Westbrook Pike Water Authority is a public water utility serving the St. Louis area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Remote-friendly, with quarterly visits in St. Louis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
