Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Harborlight Haven Insurance Group is an insurance company in Baltimore with claims and service teams. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to premium billing, and clear open items. • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Baltimore. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
