Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Stonegate Forge Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around Des Moines, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 837 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around dock schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with loads and lanes.
