Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Ironwood Forge Freight coordinates shipments and warehousing around El Paso, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around loads and lanes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with customer tracking. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in El Paso. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
