Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Fernwood Vista Markets is a Detroit retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 631 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around promotions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to shrink and waste, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Detroit. • We reply to every applicant.
