Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Stonegate Timber Construction is a San Diego contractor with project managers, trades and support staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to change orders, and clear open items. • Track costs around subcontractor invoices against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with change orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • Fully remote, with a monthly team day in San Diego. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
