Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Westbrook Cedar Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Houston. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. Safety comes first on every shift. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to hardship programmes, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in Houston. • We reply to every applicant.
