Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Bright Sable Housing manages affordable housing communities across Des Moines, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around lease compliance against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with maintenance stores. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Remote-friendly, with a monthly team day in Des Moines. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
