Accountant - fixed assets (remote)

Bluepeak Field Water Authority is a public water utility serving the San Jose area, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 18 people, working mostly from home. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with meter reading. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • Fully remote, with quarterly visits in San Jose. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
