Accountant - fixed assets (Providence, RI)

Harborlight Sparrow Arts Center Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for volunteer programmes, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer programmes, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around visitor services against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with volunteer programmes. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Providence. • We reply to every applicant.
