Accountant - fixed assets (Providence, RI)

Cedar Rook Property Management manages apartment communities around Providence, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 195 people based in Providence. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to unit turnovers, and clear open items. • Track costs around lease renewals against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Providence. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
