Accountant - fixed assets (Pittsburgh, PA)

Bright Forge Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Pittsburgh, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. Reliability is the job, and people here take pride in answering the phone at 3 a.m. when needed. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around service connections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to outage response, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with outage response. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Pittsburgh. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
