Accountant - fixed assets (Oakland, CA)

Westbrook Corner Markets is a Oakland retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. We like people who know our customers by name. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around shrink and waste against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to online orders, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
