Accountant - fixed assets (Oakland, CA)

Nova Birch Freight moves freight for manufacturers and retailers out of Oakland. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to loads and lanes, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with loads and lanes. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
