Accountant - fixed assets (New Orleans, LA)

Westbrook Fern Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in New Orleans working with agencies and riders, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a small organisation of about 96 people based in New Orleans. What you will do • Track costs around fare systems against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to survey data, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with survey data. Working arrangement • Contract for three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in New Orleans. • We reply to every applicant.
