Accountant - fixed assets (New Orleans, LA)

We are growing our team at Amberfield North Insurance and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with underwriting files. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in New Orleans. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
