Accountant - fixed assets (New Orleans, LA)

We are growing our team at Highbridge Wren Freight and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to dock schedules, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with dock schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in New Orleans. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
