Accountant - fixed assets (Nashville, TN)

Highbridge Pike Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for capital projects, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to capital projects, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with capital projects. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Nashville. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
