Accountant - fixed assets (Madison, WI)

Stonegate Junction Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on fixed assets for meter reading, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 124 people based in Madison. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with meter reading. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Madison. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
