Accountant - fixed assets (Knoxville, TN)

Redstone Union Foods produces packaged foods at its Knoxville plant. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around sanitation schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with cold storage. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Knoxville. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
