Accountant - fixed assets (Kansas City, MO)

Ironwood Community Partners is a Kansas City charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. We are small enough to know everyone's name. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to grant reporting, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around client intake against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with grant reporting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Kansas City. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
