Accountant - fixed assets (Jacksonville, FL)

Greenridge Maple Water Authority Associates is a public water utility serving the Jacksonville area. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to treatment plant data, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with treatment plant data. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Jacksonville. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
