Accountant - fixed assets (Jackson, MS)

Foxglove Iron Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around Jackson. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around customer complaints against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with underwriting files. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Jackson, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
