Accountant - fixed assets (Houston, TX)

Highbridge Stone Energy Group supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Houston. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Track costs around outage response against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with service connections. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Houston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
