Accountant - fixed assets (Houston, TX)

Nova Quill Foods is a Houston food manufacturer supplying grocers and food-service customers, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around allergen controls against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with production batches. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Houston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
