Accountant - fixed assets (Hartford, CT)

We are growing our team at Redstone Wren Transit Planning Partners and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be fixed assets. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Hartford. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
