Accountant - fixed assets (Hartford, CT)

Westbrook Ivory Inspection Services tests and certifies buildings, pipelines and equipment around Hartford, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. You would join a large organisation of about 904 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around certifications against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field inspections, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with field inspections. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Hartford. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
