Accountant - fixed assets (Hartford, CT)

Stonegate Wren Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Hartford, and we need an Accountant to lead our fixed assets. Safety comes first on every shift. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to usage data, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with usage data. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Hartford. • We reply to every applicant.
