Accountant - fixed assets (Grand Rapids, MI)

Rivermark Orchard Energy is an energy provider in Grand Rapids focused on reliable service and fair billing. We are hiring an Accountant to take on fixed assets. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around hardship programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to usage data, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with usage data. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Grand Rapids, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
